Lenape Regional Performing Arts Center

 

A beautiful 1500 seat stadium style theater in Marlton, NJ, the Lenape Regional Performing Arts Center presents a summer theater series from late-June to mid-October each year. Performance events include some of the country's most talented vocalists, biggest headliners, and spectacular stage productions, including imaginative new works of American musical theater.  Lenape Regional Performing Arts Center also provides master classes and artist-in-residency programs that enable students to interact with Broadway "bests' for a unique professional theater experience.

Queen Nur & the Duinsity Storytelling and Lecturing Group

 

 Karen Abdul-Malik, (Queen Nur), is a nationally celebrated  storyteller and facilitator.  Based in Willingboro, New Jersey, Karen and her Duinsity Storytelling and Lecturing Group, have been featured in such venues as the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC and the Equitable Tower on Broadway. Karen's Queen Nur persona is a highly energetic, creative and expressive storyteller that has literally enthralled thousands including a feature aired on NJN's Another View (PBS).  Queen Nur incorporates, music, dance and movement into her performances and thrives on audience participation.

The Burlington County Teen Arts

 

The Burlington County Teen Arts is part of a statewide multidisciplinary program in the fine and performing arts. Serving students and teachers in both public and private schools since 1969, the program encompasses activities in dance, theater, vocal music, instrumental music, film and video, photography, creative writing and the visual arts. Tri-State Jazz Society

 Tri-State Jazz Society offers traditional jazz concerts in several venues in the Delaware Valley. Traditional jazz covers New Orleans style, Dixieland, swing, stride, and boogie-woogie. Concerts are scheduled most months on Sunday afternoons. The primary venue is the Brooklawn American Legion Hall, located on Railroad Avenue, Brooklawn, NJ.  Additional programs include:

 

-Cultural Education with the Jazz Society
 This program welcomes school groups to concerts where they are invited to interact with professional musicians. 

 

-Group Tours with the Jazz Society
 Group tours (of up to 50 people) are welcome to the society's concerts

Oficina da Capoeira is an official instructor of the Afro-Brazilian martial art form of Capoeira. Developed over 400 years ago by African slaves who were brought to Brazil, Capoeira encompasses (among many other things) elements of dance, ritual, self-defense, acrobatics  and self-expression. Afro-One Dance, Drama and Drum Theatre, Inc.

Afro-One is a nonprofit performing arts school and dance company founded by Dr. Patricia Reid-Merritt in Willingboro, New Jersey. The company performs throughout the region and offers classes to youth and adults in various dance techniques and percussion drumming. Dr. Reid-Merritt has remained at the helm of the organization for the past thirty-four years. The school, as well as its free summer programs for youth, are managed by Christina Bookhart, Assistant Director.

Annual Fashion Show Extravaganza and Dinner

The Annual Fashion Show Extravaganza and gourmet dinner at the Enterprise Center of the Burlington County College (BCC) is an event not to missed.  Hosted in February by the African-American Cultural Events Committee in partnership with the Fashion Design Department and the Office of Community Enrichment, guest models have included professional football players and television personalities, including, Master of Ceremony, Rick Williams of WPVI Channel 6 News (Philadelphia).  All proceeds benefit BCC's Scholarship Fund.  For additional information please call (609) 894-9311, ext. 1456.

Brass Roots

 

 The Brass Roots Orchestra is a 10-piece group consisting of a rhythm section of piano, guitar, bass, and drums, 3 horns, as well as three vocal accompaniments.
