The Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences

 

Founded in 1948, The Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences is dedicated to providing arts, science and recreational programs to its greater community. Through professional exhibitions, performances, classes, films, lectures and outreach programs, the LBIF engages members, residents and visitors in year round activities and events that educate and inspire. The LBIF offers a diverse array of workshops and art classes, including a Jazz Dance Class which explores the lyrical and contemporary nature of Jazz influenced by tap, jazz music, and African rhythms.

Georgian Court University
Since its founding by the Sisters of Mercy of New Jersey in 1908, Georgian Court University (GCU) has grown from a women's liberal arts college to its present enrollment of 1,258 female undergraduates and an additional 617-student population in the coeducational undergraduate and graduate University College. While preparing students for their roles in the professional world, the University also assists students in personal development as well as celebrating the diversity of its student body, staff and community through programs such as:

The Gospel Singers

A performing ensemble dedicated to gospel and other choral songs in the African American tradition. This program is directed by Zarita Mattox.

Georgian Court University Jazz Band
The Jazz Band performs Big Band Jazz arrangements made popular by Benny Goodman, Harry James, Artie Shaw, Glen Miller, Woody Herman, Duke Ellington, and other great Jazz artists. The band is open to students, faculty, professional musicians, and community members interested in performing Jazz and learning improvisational techniques. (Directed by Wilbur Wittemann)

The Ocean County Teen Arts

 

The Ocean County Teen Arts is part of a statewide multidisciplinary program in the fine and performing arts. Serving students and teachers in both public and private schools since 1969, the program encompasses activities in dance, theater, vocal music, instrumental music, film and video, photography, creative writing and the visual arts. Ocean County
College

The Fine Arts Center, located on the campus of Ocean County College (OCC), is home to the OCC Theatre Company, Community Chorus and several other performing arts and entertainment groups. The  OCC also features a mid-week Jazz program, presenting the music of many talented musicians.
