African Global Arts and the Iwa L'ewa Heritage Dance Ensemble
African Global Arts and Iwa L'ewa Heritage Dance Ensemble represent the philosophy that no matter where African people live or where their ancestors were taken during the Slave Trade, the African cultural legacy they planted in the *New World as well as in Africa is alive and well in their descendents. African Global Arts seeks to manifest this truth by extending their legacy through dance and teachings and inspiring a new generation who will tell their stories. Under the direction of artist & teacher, Yewande Kelley-Johnson, African Global Arts presents performances, workshops for children, youth and adult students, and ceremonies emanating out of its African Global heritage, that is inclusive of countries like Guinea, Mali, Senegal, the United States, Trinidad, Haiti, Brazil, Columbia and others. The arts organization prides itself in presenting West African cultural presentations, Anansi stories from Trinidad, Cuba's Orisha dance and the U.S. Kwanzaa tradition through rich instrumentation, which include the balophon, djembe orchestra, udu, shekere and conch shell. Workshops, residencies and cultural performances are all available.
